  • Christian & Kathryn Clayton moved to Rockland in 2005.
  • They were the 2004 Rising Star Ballroom Champions.
  • They have traveled all around the country teaching, coaching, and competing for over 10 years now.
  • They have brought the fun of social and competitive dancing to the people of coastal Maine.

*Practice Sessions

Don't have any room to practice at home?  Don't have the right music to practice to?  Here's your chance to practice on a big, open floor with lots of great music.  It's a relaxed atmosphere where you can feel free to stop and practice your moves or just practice in a more social setting. $5 per person

*Monthly Dances

We turn down the lights and turn up the music to create a "PARTY" atmostphere...here's a chance to strut your stuff in a real life situation. We serve light food & drinks, have mixers, demonstrations and our instructors are here to dance & help you out. They're great fun!

Meet The Teachers



A former Pastry Chef, Christian has been dancing 11 years now and was the 2004 US Rising Star Ballroom Champion.  He loves to teach all styles of partnership dancing. He is great with beginners and specializes in intermediate and advanced singles and couples for social and competitive dancing.  When he’s not in the ballroom, he enjoys home restoration and his 2 Weimaraner’s, Buddy & Crosby.





Kathryn has been dancing 12 years.  She started out with Country & Western and eventually went on to be the 2004 US Rising Star Ballroom Champion.  She’s energetic & fun & loves to work on both technique & styling for social & competitive dancers.  She’s great with everyone and has an affinity for wedding couples.  Shopping is the name of the game for this gal when she’s not at the studio and enjoys curling up with a good book in front of the fire.





Alysa has been with Swing & Sway Dancing since the studio opened in 2005.  She has been successful competing at dance competitions across the US.  Alysa is the lady to go to for group classes & private lessons beginner for both singles & couples.  She’s hardworking & easy going at the same time!  During the day she manages the Atlantic Baking Company and dances the night away at the studio.  No one can get enough of Alysa!





Sam got his start in Belfast 5 years ago and started with Swing & Sway this year.   Sam is quiet and kind and a real gentleman on the dance floor.  This man has an abundance of patience and helps beginners to feel comfortable and successful.  In his free time, Sam is very involved with horse shows & competitions.

If you like to watch Dancing with the Stars, why not try it yourself?! This is a fun way to not only mark your progress in your dancing but also add new friends and adventures to your life. Our teachers have been on the competitive scene for years and have the experience to make you a real winner!
