SOCIAL AND COMPETITIVE DANCE INSTRUCTION
Competitive dancing or "Dancesport", as it is called, is a blend of artistry, technical skill, and athleticism. On any given weekend in the United States there is a Ballroom Dancing competition taking place: From Hawaii to Ohio, Boston to Puerto Rico, even Paris and Japan, people are experiencing the joys of competitive dancing.
There are three classes of competitors: professionals, amateurs, and "Pro-Am". "Pro-Am", or Professional-Amateur, is when a student dances with his or her teacher. This is the class Swing & Sway students begin competing in. You may enter a competition at any stage of life and dance experience, as the event is broken down by gender, age, and skill level or proficiency.

Competition is the most challenging yet most exciting way to advance your dancing skills. You can learn and compete in as many different dances as you like: waltz, tango, east coast swing, even the hustle! Your teacher will choreograph competition routines, tailored to your skill and ability. They are there every step of the way to provide you with the ultimate competitive dance experience. You'll get dressed up in a gorgeous gown or tails, have your hair and makeup done by a professional, and dance under the bright lights of a beautiful ballroom.
Competing against other dancers of your age and stage, you have the opportunity to win titles and trophies! Swing & Sway is proud to boast teachers with years of experience and a caché of awards and trophies representing their accomplishments. They are there every step of the way to provide you with the ultimate competitive dance experience.
